As an elected Morgan Hill Unified School Board Trustee, I have tremendous insight into the operations of our Santa Clara County School Districts. My family has two generations of children in public schools. I bring important experience with a Masters in Governance from CSBA, as well as, a Project Cornerstone classroom reading mentor. Bold Leadership is desperately needed to address student safety on our campuses. After the Parkland shooting in Florida, my districts high schools wanted a student forum day on school safety. As I listened to students say,”please, I don’t want to come to school in fear of being shot”.! My hair on the back of my neck stood up when I heard these words, we must step out of the norm and come up with clear solutions for this concern, status quo is not the answer. We need to look outside of our districts for additional insight and help.
With over 30 years of high tech experience complemented with 10 years of financial industry experience, I will be a vigilant watchdog with taxpayer dollars! When I voted to stop school buildings from being built on toxic soil, I asked the tough questions and made hard decisions, all based on what’s best for our kids and not special interests.
There’s a good reason we have two ears and one mouth, we need to listen to the parents, the taxpayers, and refocus the County Board of Education on what is truly important-our children, teaching and learning.
